Welcome to the third day of the second Test match between Pakistan and Australia.

The tourists have it all to do at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium after Mohammad Abbas’ five-wicket haul and Fakhar Zaman’s second consecutive half-century have given the ‘hosts’ a 281-run lead. Australia had earlier been bowled out for 145.

Azhar Ali (54) and Haris Sohail (17) resume the innings with Pakistan on 144-2.

Sohail was unable to add to his overnight score after being bowled out for 17 but there was a comical run-out from Azhar Ali. The experienced batsman thought he had scored a boundary but fell short of the ropes. Chatting with Asad Shafiq at the middle of the crease, he was run out for 64.

After Pakistan reached lunch on 232-4, Marnus Labuschagne removed Asad Shafiq for 44, but their lead is approaching the 400-mark.

Babar Azam missed out on his maiden Test century as he fell for 99 after being trapped lbw by Mitchell Marsh as Pakistan’s lead goes past 500.

Sarfraz departed for 81 and while more wickets fell, the skipper declared on 400-9, leaving Australia a mammoth target of 538 for victory.

Mir Hamza removed Shaun Marsh for 4 as Australia ended the day on 47-1, needing a mammoth 491 runs over the next two days for victory.
