  • Danube successfully defended their title when they defeated DBMSC by 15 runs in the second edition of the Indoor Ramadan Cup 2012 at the ICC Global Cricket Academy grounds in Dubai.

Put in to bat, Danube got off to a decent start, with Saqib (9) and Sachin (4) putting on 13 runs. The second pair of Kashif (9) and Umar (2) survived some quality spin bowling and pushed the overall team total to 24 at the end of six overs.

Ojas (6) and Salman (14) then accelerated the score, taking the total to 44 while the last pair of Arif (9) and Farhan Butt (4) took the score to 57 at the end of 12 overs.

Chasing 58 was always going to be a tough task for DBMSC who were playing in their first major final.

Danube had the opposition on the back foot from the word get go with some tight swing bowling backed by an attacking field. Credit to DBMSC though who, despite the pressure, put up a fight but eventually fell short by 15 runs.

Salman Faris was adjudged the Man of the Final, and Umar Shah the Man of the Series.

    Dulsco

Meanwhile, Al Masa IT Distribution defeated Carfare Dubai by eight wickets to top their group as both teams made it to the knock-out stage of the 11th Dulsco Ramadan T20 Tournament.

Electing to bat first, Carfare Dubai scored 153 for 8 while Al Masa reached the target in 12.2 overs for the loss of just two wickets. The round-robin league matches have now been completed.

In the quarter-finals, Merlin CC will play ENOC while Al Masa IT Distribution take on Jashanmal CC. Hosts Dulsco SC play Wings XI and IKAT Bros meet Carfare Dubai to decide the last four.

The semi-finals will be played on August 15 and 16, and the final on August 18.

    Interface

In the 2nd Interface Ramadan Cup 2012, Interface Transworld skipper Fahad Tariq smashed 78 runs to lead his team to a five-wicket win over Nucaf Tellicherry at the ICC GCA grounds in Dubai.

Batting first, Nucaf lost three quick wickets in the face of some hostile bowling from pacers Omar Khalid and Aman Ali Sherazi.

Krishna Chandran (22) and Abdul Shakoor (20) then stitched together a 45-run partnership, but after both departed with the scoreboard reading 75 for five, a respectable total was always going to be a challenge. Nucaf were eventually bowled out for 138 in 20 overs.

In reply, Interface skipper Tariq and Adan Arif put on 90 runs in 11 overs, and despite wickets falling at the other end, a late cameo by Puneet Mehra saw Interface home with five wickets in hand and an over to spare.
