Sri Lanka World T20 winning captain Lasith Malinga and his international teammate Angelo Mathews are to be announced as the marquee players in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) T20 tournament scheduled to be played in Qatar next February.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) left no stone unturned in their preparations and enslisted the services of sports intelligence agency Repucom, who requested the availability of a host of top players with regards to playing in the tournament.

Sport360 has been informed from a PSL insider that Malinga and Mathews are now confirmed for the player auction, which will likely take place in October.

“We are working really hard to make a good pool of international players available for the auction and it is satisfying that Malinga and Mathews have agreed to be part of our proposed Pakistan Super League,” the PSL official revealed to Sprt360.

“It is important for us to get the world’s top players to play as they would attract powerful investors to buy franchises, while the credibility of the event will increase as well. We will be in a position to reveal a few more top names in the coming weeks as everyone involved with PSL continues to work tirelessly to make it a success.”

The PSL insider also revealed that the PCB has reached an agreement with former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja to be ambassadors for the PSL. The duo was selected because of their good standing and reputation within the game.

“Wasim and Ramiz will be PSL ambassadors as they enjoy huge respect in cricket fraternity and their association would make the product better,” he added.
