KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram remained safe after an altercation resulted in a gunfire near National Stadium Karachi (NSK) where he was coming to coach upcoming Pakistan pacers.

An unknown group bumped into Wasim’s car which resulted in a dent on his Mercedes. Wasim asked the driver to park his car on the side so he could see how much damage was done.

This resulted in unnecessary rage from those sitting in the opposite car – who were reported to have been drunk — as one of the men took out his pistol and fired the tyre of Wasim’s car.

When they were told by onlookers that they were taking on legend Wasim Akram, the three men sped away in their car.

Wasim quickly reached NSK, parked his car and went back with police at the spot to file FIR.

“It was an incident of road rage which can happen anywhere in the world,” Wasim said on the issue.

“These things happen everywhere in England, Australia etc but people should increase their tolerance level. I’m safe and up but if those cowards have got any courage, they should come face to face instead of pointing a gun at an unarmed person.”

Wasim also played down the incident stating a road rage incident does not mean that there are any major security concerns in Pakistan.
