The Pakistan Cricket Board members will meet on Saturday to discuss plans for a Twenty20 league in the UAE next February.

Although the Emirates Cricket Board is yet to hear directly from the governing body, reports in Pakistan suggest the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League, will feature five teams comprising overseas players.

ECB CEO David East told Sport360 last night he had “no information” about the proposed PSL but the PCB have hired the services of globally-acclaimed sports marketing research company Repucom to help them conduct the event, which will replace their domestic Twenty20 league, according to The Express Tribune.

Five teams are likely to play each other twice in the league phase followed by the final between the top two sides.

The paper, quoting an unnamed senior PCB official, felt holding the event in the UAE will help the event attract top players.

“We’ve hired Repucom because they have a reputation of delivering in big projects and their advice would certainly help the viability and credibility of our high-profile T20 league,” the official said.

“We’ll have around three weeks to complete the competition and it would be easier to attract big names with the league being played in the UAE.”
