The Bollywood superstar, who became the first Indian Premier League owner to buy a team in an overseas Twenty20 league, joins Hollywood stars Mark Wahlberg  (Barbados Tridents) and Gerard Butler (Jamaica Tallawahs) in the CPL owners’ club.

Khan’s firm Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited and KKR co-owners Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta have invested in the T&T franchise although the financial details of the deal are still under wraps.

“This is in line with our vision to expand globally . We are thrilled to become part of the cricketing tradition of Trinidad & Tobago.

“The passion for franchise cricket in the Caribbean is evident with the success of CPL and we hope to bring all the best practices of KKR to the T&T franchise,” Khan told The Times of India yesterday.

The KKR deal marks another Indian entry into the Caribbean league following moped and scooter manufacturing company Hero Motors, who are the title sponsors of the third edition this season.

T&T, who made the knockout stages in the earlier two seasons, have the Bravo siblings, Dwayne and Darren, Johan Botha and Samuel Badree in their ranks.

The CPL will be played from June 20 to July 26.
