Interim team director Enoch Nkwe is likely to be assisted  by World Cup winning coach Gary Kirsten ahead of the Test series against England.

Nkwe was appointed during the India tour after Cricket South Africa and former coach Ottis Gibson parted ways following a disastrous campaign in the 2019 World Cup. He was previously the coach of the domestic title winning Highveld Lions in the 2018-19 season

Kirsten guided India to their World Cup triumph on home soil in 2011 and took South Africa to the top of the world Test rankings in two years as a coach before stepping down in August 2013.

He will be mentoring the team director during the series against England that begins on Boxing Day (December 26) at the Centurion.

England will play four Tests, three T20Is and three  ODIs during their two-month stint in South Africa.

The CSA has been facing an administrative crisis in the past few weeks with their chief executive Thabang Moroe suspended following allegations of misconduct.

Three other board members have resigned and the national team lost their main sponsor Standard Bank after the company refused to renew their current contract that runs till April 2020.

Jacques Faul  was appointed as an acting CEO  and after long drawn negotiations with former skipper Graeme Smith, CSA expect to appoint Smith as the Director of cricket.
