Vriitya Aravind is proving that age is just a number after the youngster continued to impress for Commercial Bank International in the League of Mammoths tournament.

The 16-year-old has been the talk during league matches of Dubai Cricket Council and after shining in the Youth League, he carried that form into the League of Mammoths.

Facing adults at the Sevens hasn’t unfazed the batsman with last week’s knock – a useful 68 helping Commercial Bank International to a 50-run victory against Zabeel Mammoths.

He went on to replicate that, scoring 84 to steer CBI to a crushing win over Jumeirah Mammoths.

After CBI lost opener Hari Krishnan for a duck, Aravind and Ilyas Ahmed built the innings with a 64-run partnership.

While Ilyas hit 27, CBI reached 196-7 thanks to useful contributions from Rajeev Patil (21), Mohammad Azam (24) and Shajil Balan’s unbeaten 23.

Jumeirah managed 160-9 thanks to Anoop Nair’s 44 and Shiva Pagarani’s 33 as Nihal Anwar finished as the stand-out bowler for 4-30.

Although Zabeel lost to CBI, there was something to cheer as a half century from Kapil Gandhi and an unbeaten 41 from Prajakat Chohan was enough for Zabeel to beat Nad Al Sheba by 25 runs.

Their scores helped Zabeel post 188-6 with Deepak Patel earning a man of the match award with 4-29 as Nad Al Sheba were all out for 163.
