20:00 India given Ravichandran Ashwin injury scare

Ravichandran Ashwin failed to take the field for the first two days of India’s recently concluded warm-up game with Essex. The off-spinner is understood to have injured his right hand during practice and did not come out to bat in the India’s first innings. Ashwin did take the field on Friday to bowl four overs to alleviate some concerns.

18:30: Virender Sehwag wants India to boycott the upcoming Asia Cup

Former opening batsman Virender Sehwag was not holding back with his views on the scheduling for the upcoming Asia Cup in the UAE. India are scheduled to play two back-to-back matches on September 18 and 19 with the second of the games being against arch-rivals Pakistan.

17:30: Sri Lanka’s Danushka Gunathilaka served with six-match ban 

Sri Lanka batsman Danushka Gunathilaka has been handed a six-match ban from international cricket after he was found guilty of violating the players’ code. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had opened an inquiry against the batsman ever since his friend was accused of raping a Norwegian woman during the second Test against South Africa at Colombo.

17:00: Wishes pour in for Pakistan’s Imran Khan from cricket fraternity

Former Pakistan skipper Imran Khan is set to become the country’s next Prime Minister after his party won the majority of the seats in the recently concluded general elections. The 1992 World Cup winning skipper’s party has fallen short of the overall majority but are expected to form the next government through a coalition.
