5:00pm: Yorkshire unhappy with the ECB over Adil Rashid Test recall

Adil Rashid’s recall to the England Test squad has not gone down too well with his county outfit Yorkshire. Yorkshire CEO Mark Arthur has questioned the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) over the shock recall to the leg-spinner who signed a white-ball only contract with the county side this year.

Rashid was named in England’s 13-man squad for the first Test.

2.37pm: Adil Rashid recalled to England test squad for series against India

Adil Rashid is in line to play his first home Test next week after his shock recall to a 13-man England squad which also features uncapped seamer Jamie Porter.

Rashid’s inclusion alongside his fellow spinner Moeen Ali, for England’s 1,000th Test against India at Edgbaston, comes despite his decision last winter to quit all first-class cricket this year while he prepares for a home World Cup campaign in 2019.

11:02am – India cut day from warm-up match

India coach Ravi Shastri defended his side’s decision to reduce their scheduled four-day game against Essex to a three-day game.

The match against Essex is the only first-class fixture India will play before they head to face England in the first Test of the five-match series, at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

There had been speculation that India’s unusual move had been made after they were provided with green practice pitches at Chelmsford which may bare little resemblance to the surface they get in the first Test.
