Heriot Watt added another trophy to their cabinet after claiming the Ramada Gulf Cup Inter-University T20 title.

This season, the Dubai outfit already tasted success in the Dubai International Academic City and Manipal University Cups and their latest crown came courtesy of a nine-wicket triumph over Amity University.

Batting first in Ajman, Amity endured a tough time at the crease and were all out for 102.

Omer Mohammad (24) top-scored for his side as his team-mates had no answer to Heriot’s attack with Muqeet Butt finishing with figures of 3-19.

Despite a low target, Heriot began their run-chase in a cautious manner.

Although Adnan Khan was sent back to the pavilion after scoring 26 runs, his partner Chirag Suri was on fire.

The former UAE Under-19 int-ernational struck a half-century (50no) and was well supported by Rohit Singh (26) as the pair helpedHeriot reach their target with ease.

Singh was thrilled with the team’s latest accolade and believes the tournament will keep them in good stead for future competitions.

“It is certainly a great feeling to win another trophy for Heriot Watt,” said the 22-year-old, who captained the UAE in the Under-19 World Cup in 2014.

“It’s great preparation for the rest of the season as the Red Bull Campus cricket competition begins next month and that is one tournament we want to win given we are the defending champions.”
